What is Interior MAIS?

The Emprego Interior MAIS program is a direct financial support measure from the IEFP, aimed at workers who choose to relocate to the interior of Portugal. This incentive seeks to combat desertification and support the geographical mobility of qualified professionals.

Who can benefit?

Employees (contracts with a duration exceeding 12 months);

Individuals creating their own job or business;

Subordinate and independent workers in remote work regimes within inland territories.

Base Financial Support

Permanent employment contract, creation or transfer of own job or business to the interior (includes self-employed workers);
Fixed-term, unspecified-term, or grant contract (including new contracts and transfer of place of activity).

Values:

1st - 7 x IAS* = 3,759.91€

2nd - 5 x IAS = 2,685.65€

*Value of the IAS (Social Support Index) in 2026: €537.13

What are the Support Values?

Complementary Support

Increased support for each family member accompanying the beneficiary in the relocation to an inland territory;
Additional support for the costs of transporting belongings to the new residence.

Values:

1st- 20% (de 7 IAS ou de 5 IAS) = 751,98 € ou 537,13 € (Per household member)

2nd - 1,5 x IAS = 805.70 €
